“The View” Hosts Criticize Trump’s Town Hall Performance for Playing Music Instead of Answering Questions

The co-hosts of The View spent much of Tuesday’s show discussing former President Donald Trump’s recent town hall event, where instead of addressing key issues, he spent a significant portion of time playing music and dancing. The hosts expressed concern over Trump’s behavior, questioning his ability to engage seriously with the public ahead of the 2024 election.
Whoopi Goldberg was particularly unsettled by Trump’s actions, saying, “It should really freak everybody out — 57 minutes, right?” She highlighted that Trump played music for nearly an hour without addressing any important topics. “Fifty-seven minutes of him playing music, not saying jack-doo about anything that has to do with what’s going on in the world. This freaked me out. He’s freaked me out a lot, but this really upset me,” Goldberg added.
Joy Behar noted that Trump appeared lost when confronted with certain questions. When asked about affordable housing, Trump veered off-topic and began talking about oil drilling. The event took an odd turn when Trump stopped answering questions after some audience members required medical attention, choosing instead to play music and dance.
“I mean, the guy doesn’t know the difference between a rally or whatever that was and Dancing With the Stars,” Behar quipped, referring to Trump’s apparent confusion between serious political events and entertainment.
Former Trump communications director Alyssa Farah Griffin shared her concerns about the former president’s state of mind, calling the town hall performance alarming. “I saw this last night. I thought it was a deepfake,” Griffin said, before playing a clip of Trump singing “Time to Say Goodbye,” comparing it to a comedic moment from the film Step Brothers featuring actor Will Ferrell singing the same song.
Though the hosts shared a few laughs, Griffin turned serious, voicing her worry about Trump’s decline. “This is not even the man I worked for, who had all sorts of problems,” she explained. “There’s a decline, and I worry the history books might say everyone was quick to call out Joe Biden’s age and issues, but we missed that someone else is just flying under the radar, clearly in decline.”
The co-hosts’ discussion emphasized their concerns about Trump’s behavior, suggesting that his current approach to public events signals a troubling change from his earlier years in politics.
