“Listen to His Words”: Kamala Harris Uses Trump’s Own Rhetoric to Warn of Danger at Rally

In a powerful display of her prosecutorial skills, Vice President Kamala Harris used Donald Trump’s own words against him during a rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, on Monday night. Harris played a montage of clips from Trump’s rallies and interviews, presenting them as evidence of the former president’s dangerous intentions if he returns to office.

“Listen to his words, he tells us who he is, and he tells us what he would do if he’s elected president,” Harris told the crowd. “So, here tonight I will show you one example of Donald Trump’s worldview and intentions. Please roll the clip.”

The video began with a clip from October 12 in which Trump declares, “The worst people are the enemy from within,” followed by a series of similar statements where he repeatedly referenced “people from within.” The crowd responded with boos as Trump’s words echoed across the venue, told The New York Times.

“So, you heard his words coming from him,” Harris said after the clip ended. “He’s talking about the enemy within Pennsylvania – he’s talking about the enemy within our country, Pennsylvania.”

The Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump Republican group, praised her approach, writing on X, “Brilliant.” Democratic strategist Simon Rosenberg also commended Harris, urging supporters to “Watch, learn, and share my friends,” and added, “Harris is bringing it every day, and fighting for us with everything she’s got.”

Attorney and legal analyst Jeffrey Evan Gold called her tactic “the revamped closing stump” for her campaign. Harris continued her speech by highlighting the groups Trump has indicated he would target if re-elected. “The list of people Trump would go after includes journalists whose stories he doesn’t like, election officials who refuse to cheat, and judges who insist on following the law instead of bending to his will,” she said.

“He’s saying that he would use the military to go after them – think about this.” As Harris wrapped up, she underscored the importance of Pennsylvania’s 19 electoral votes in the 2024 election, where the race between her and Trump remains neck-and-neck, according to polling from FiveThirtyEight.
