As Donald Trump prepares for his rally in Indiana, Pennsylvania, the Democratic Party is taking a bold approach to call out the former president. Just ahead of his event, the Democrats plan to display massive billboards featuring Trump’s face superimposed on a chicken suit, with the message: “There’s no debate: Donald Trump’s a chicken.”

The stunt references Trump’s refusal to engage in a second debate with Vice President Kamala Harris. Abhi Rahman, deputy communications director for the Democratic National Committee (DNC), announced that a mobile billboard would circle Trump’s rally, reminding voters of his decision to back out of the debate.

“It wasn’t so long ago that Donald Trump boasted he’d debate ‘anytime, anywhere,’ but after Vice President Kamala Harris held him to account for his failures as president and dangerous second-term agenda in their first debate, it’s no surprise Trump’s turned chicken,” Rahman quipped, according to The Independent.

Trump Declines Second Debate, Cites Early Voting

Trump, now 78, declined a second debate with Harris, claiming that “it’s too late” as early voting is already underway. However, the DNC quickly pointed out that during the 2020 election, Trump debated Joe Biden on October 22, even though early voting had already started in over half the states.

Harris, for her part, has agreed to participate in a second debate, scheduled for October 23 and hosted by CNN. Trump, however, is unlikely to attend, stating that his first debate performance on September 10 was sufficient.

“The American people deserve another opportunity to hear Vice President Harris and Donald Trump lay out their starkly different visions for our country side-by-side before Election Day,” the DNC argued in a press release.

Harris Dominates First Debate, Experts Say

The first presidential debate between Harris and Trump significantly shifted the narrative, with many political experts and public opinion declaring Harris the clear winner. Harris, a former prosecutor, strategically handled Trump’s attacks, often mocking his remarks with laughter and rational responses.

Political experts like Marc Short, former chief of staff to VP Mike Pence, noted, “Trump missed an opportunity to stay focused prosecuting the case against Biden-Harris on the economy and border and instead took her bait and chased down rabbit holes.” He added that Harris successfully presented herself as presidential material, according to Reuters.

Democratic strategist Karen Finney also praised Harris, calling her debate performance “one of the most impressive in modern politics.” She remarked, “Harris did exactly what she needed to do: talk about her vision, illustrate the contrast with Trump, and stay out of his unraveling.”

Despite widespread praise for Harris, Trump has continued to claim he outperformed her and recently argued during a rally in North Carolina that Harris only wants another debate because “she knows she is losing.”
